About Carver Lights

Carver Lights began as a small ceramics studio called Wonky Mugs, creating perfectly imperfect hand-built mugs, dinner sets, and handmade homewares in Australia. What started as a passion for clay and craftsmanship gradually evolved into a deeper exploration of form, texture, light, and the emotional atmosphere objects can create within a space.
Six years ago, the lights went on — quite literally — and Carver Lights was born.
As I looked around beautifully designed homes, hospitality venues, and architectural spaces, I kept noticing the same disconnect: warm natural materials and thoughtful interiors paired with cold, mass-produced steel and aluminium lighting. I wanted to create something different. Something softer, more tactile, more human.
Carver Lights was created to bring together the warmth of handmade ceramics with contemporary lighting design. Every piece is handcrafted in Australia as a sculptural lighting object designed not only to illuminate a space, but to create feeling, atmosphere, and connection.
Each ceramic pendant light, wall sconce, and sculptural light fitting is individually made by hand, embracing subtle variations in texture, glaze, and form that make every piece unique. Inspired by organic shapes, natural materials, architecture, and the interplay between shadow and light, the collection sits somewhere between functional lighting and collectible art.
Before ceramics and lighting, I spent years working in creative industries including advertising, Facebook, and Instagram. While I was grateful for those experiences, I increasingly felt drawn toward creating something tangible and meaningful with my hands — something slower, more enduring, and more connected to people and the spaces they live in.
That journey led me down the rabbit hole of ceramics, lighting design, glazing, firing, and endless experimentation with form and material. What continues to inspire me is the way light can completely transform how a space feels — adding warmth, calm, intimacy, and emotion.
I’m endlessly inspired by the creative possibilities of combining clay, glass, texture, and illumination. Every new collection is an opportunity to explore sculptural forms, handmade finishes, and contemporary Australian lighting in a way that feels timeless rather than trend-driven.
Thank you for visiting Carver Lights and for supporting independent Australian artists, makers, and handmade design.
